Our Advisors are passionate about delivering access to electricity to the African continent and have extensive experience in developing infrastructure projects in Africa as well as building and operating power generation assets.
Hervé is the Managing Director at Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) focusing on disruptive business models and technologies in the electricity sector. Hervé is also Chairman of Black Bear Energy (BBE), an owner’s representative for Real Estate Investment Trusts in distributed energy.
Outside RMI, he is an advisor to Greentech Capital Advisors. Hervé was global MD of the solar and biomass businesses at E.ON Climate & Renewables. He founded E.ON Connecting Energies, E.ON’s distributed energy business.
Previously, Hervé served as a leading expert for the energy sector with McKinsey & Co. Hervé received a M.S. in Mathematics from Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from U.C. Berkeley.
Hervé promotes ASTRA’s position on the asset sourcing and procurement side from European utilities, including but not limited to obtaining exclusivity on prime stranded assets in Europe.
Is an economist with expertise and experience in managing investments and development projects in Africa. He served for more than 20 years in various management and leadership positions in Africa including the World Bank, the Swiss Foreign Service and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
In his most recent position for the World Bank, he served as a Country Director for Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe managing an IDA and IBRD portfolio of about US$2.8billion and leading a team of over 200 staff members.
Gregor holds a Ph.D and M.A from Stanford University and an A.B of Harvard College. He is fluent in German, English, Portuguese and French with workable knowledge of Spanish.
Gregor facilitates ASTRA’s development of individual projects in Africa, including but not limited to government engagement at the most senior level and negotiation of sovereign guarantees.
Donald was most recently CEO of E.ON SE’s Engineering function, responsible for the power generation operations portfolio of €80 Bn, construction portfolio of €10 Bn, a nuclear & conventional decommissioning portfolio of €4 Bn and innovation portfolio of €50 m.
Previously Donald held CEO positions across the SIEMENS group of companies, responsible for a total of €3 Bn sales across Compressions, Transmission, Distribution and Metering Solution across SIEMENS’ markets.
Donald holds a Ph.D from the University of Oxford, a Masters Degree from Imperial College London and a M.A from University of Cambridge. He is fluent in English and German, with elementary French skills.
Donald promotes ASTRA’s position on the EPC contracting, negotiating and dealing with claims management, as well as aligning the technical structure of the projects to meet requirements of equity and debt financiers.
